Jay Zimmerschied, while employed with a previous firm was selected and hired by Johnson County Kansas to provide comprehensive design services for the construction of an addition to the New Century Adult Detention Facility (Phase II) and associated remodel of the existing Phase I facility. The $52 million dollar project includes 554 new beds, administrative segregation, disciplinary segregation, maximum custody, special needs and medium/minimum custody beds as well as a remodel of the existing facility to accommodate projected inmates and staff. The new building is connected directly to the existing facility with a secure link.
